It’s not only vision that we take seriously. We’re also serious about developing future talent, through a quality Pre-registration programme unique in the outstanding level of support and training it provides.

Our aim is to deliver the best Pre-registration programme. So, to ensure training remains relevant, we review our content yearly, based on advice from optical professionals, changes in the industry and feedback from our newly-qualified optometrists. This is just one of the many reasons we continue to attract a record number of Pre-reg students each year. Below you’ll find our four key steps to your success.

Quality supervision

Finding the right supervisor is as important to us as it is you, that is why you’ll meet your supervisor before starting your placement with us.

All our supervisors are trained to the College of Optometrists standard to deliver the ‘best quality’ supervision to you.

Bespoke training

We are a progressive business committed to nurturing your talent and recognising your ambitions. A commitment that’s backed up with training tailored to your individual needs.

Delivered by our own in-house team of professionals, your training will comprise a mixture of classroom and eLearning, group discussion, practical workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions, as well as mock assessment and OSCE examinations.

Continuing development

The interactive new Vision Express CET portal gives you access to over 80 hours of content, covering a variety of key clinical topics. Organised in association with a leading CET provider, it’s simple to use, regularly updated and available to view on any computer or mobile device, including smartphones. For our pre-registration students, it will make progression through their required studies considerably easier.

Unrivalled support

Every Pre-registration optometrist is assigned a dedicated Professional Development Tutor, who may very well be a university lecturer, college assessor or examiner. They are on hand to guide you every step of the way to maximise your chances of passing the OSCE examinations first time. The fact that first-time pass rates for our students is above the national average reflects the experience and expertise of our tutors.

Cost that we’ll cover:

  • College of Optometrists registration fees
  • Hospital placement fees
  • Training courses, including travel and accommodation
  • GOC membership
  • Final examinations
Post-qualification prospects

The exceptional level of support you receive will not stop once you qualify. Neither will our commitment to your ongoing professional training. On qualification you’ll also be offered a role in one of nearly 600 stores, with some offering location-specific enhancements, which may also include a relocation package.

As well as fantastic nationwide opportunities for all our newly-qualified optometrists, there are established career pathways which could see you develop your career in a number of areas; whether that’s part of our Professional Services team as a Regional Lead Optometrist or running your own store as a Optometrist Store Manager or Joint Venture Partner.
