We are proud to offer

Clinical Learning in Practice (CLiP) placements in partnership with your university and the College of Optometrists. Our structured placement program provides students with invaluable, practical real-world experience, in a supportive retail environment.

As a CLiP Optometry student

You’ll be working in store with your team and supported by a dedicated Pre-Reg Supervisor. You’ll gain practical experience in a busy optical practice working with experienced optometrists and dispensing opticians. You’ll have access to modern technology and techniques that provide you with an experience of innovative optical equipment and industry best practices. Whether it is when you’re performing eye exams, diagnosing patients, or prescribing eyecare solutions. Rest assured; your training will prepare you for every aspect of the customer journey.

CLiP requirements

You’ll need to be studying on a new-style Master of Optometry degree, and this placement will happen towards the end of your course. These undergraduate placements are part of the updated Education & Training Requirements (ETR) published by the GOC. You’ll have assessments run by the College of Optometrists throughout CLiP, before final exams with your University. On graduation, you’ll become eligible for registration with the GOC.
